Welcome to Minnesota Muskie and Pike Alliance

The Minnesota Muskie & Pike Alliance (MMPA) is an organization formed to address Muskie and Pike related issues in the state of Minnesota

The purposes of the MMPA are to promote the preservation and conservation of Muskellunge and Large Pike as a natural resource and to advance the education, studies and research of Muskellunge and Pike. This includes, but is not limited to protection of habitat, continuing and enhancing stocking programs, combating and preventing water pollution, supporting regulations of angling methods and limits and openly working and communicating with the Minnesota DNR and other organizations in order to benefit the continuation and expansion of the high quality of the Muskellunge and Minnesota Muskellunge programs

Stakeholder informational meetings

License fee increase to sustain and improve our fishery

Working with all MN Muskies inc. Chapters in Minnesota

Supporting research, legislation and education about Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS)

Science based fishery’s management

Working with watershed and clean water organizations

Muskie weight calculator in the fishing regulations

Worked with DNR to get the statewide 48 inch Minimum

We spearheaded a grassroots effort to stock the Sauk River Chain of lakes, Lake Roosevelt and Lake Pokegama.

Supporting new conservation groups like the Georgian Bay Muskie Alliance

Minnesota Muskellunge season December 1st closure

Minnesota regulations regarding quick strike rigs, live bait and mortality

Minnesota Muskie Size Limit Increase - feasibility and effects

Tournament position: no off-site weigh-in of Muskellunge

Fishing Regulations “Know the Difference” color photos, now a DNR standard for all species

Lake Miltona - Shoreline Protection Vikingland and Fargo/Moorhead Chapters

Requested the Muskie angler survey commissioned by the MN DNR (Reallocation of MN DNR resources)

Participated in Ducks Clean Water Rally in 2006

Ah Gwah Ching Leech lake shoreline protection (Aquatic management Area)

Physical and monetary assistance to the MN DNR “Adopt a Landing” program

Leech lake Miller Bay Cedar Springs Property

Membership in MOHA(Minnesota Outdoor Heritage Alliance)

MN DNR Esox Workshops involvement since 2005

Lobbying at the State Capitol on good and adverse legislation; to promote a better fishery

Worked extensively on the Long Range Large Pike and Muskie Plan 2008-2020 with Stakeholders and DNR

Working with and supporting conservation groups and organizations

Leech Lake Muskie population study

Lake, River and Road clean-ups across the state

Muskie Feeders at the Waterville Hatchery

Actively supported the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment

Aiding MN DNR in planning, presenting and participating in Round-table Events

Providing factual information to area and Lake-shore residents on Muskies, Pike, stocking and effects

Our leadership has comprised some of Americas greatest fisheries Conservationists; Al Skaar, George Selke and Frank Schneider Jr.
